Shadow AI Watch is an independent publication covering how businesses manage AI tools in the workplace. We publish research, guides, and practical resources for IT leaders, compliance officers, and business owners navigating the rapidly evolving AI governance landscape.
What we do
Most AI governance content is written by vendors selling products. We take a different approach. Our coverage is independent, practical, and written for the people who actually need to make decisions about AI usage in their organisations.
We focus on what matters to real businesses: clear explanations of regulations, actionable frameworks you can implement today, honest tool comparisons, and original research based on real-world AI usage data.
Who we write for
Our content is built for businesses of all sizes, with particular focus on small and mid-sized organisations that face the same AI governance challenges as enterprises but without dedicated security teams or six-figure budgets.
If you're an IT manager trying to understand what your team is putting into ChatGPT, a compliance officer preparing for the EU AI Act, or a business owner who wants to enable AI without the risk, this site is for you.
Our principles
We believe AI governance should enable teams, not restrict them. Blocking AI tools doesn't work -- people find workarounds. What does work is visibility, clear policies, and practical guidance that meets people where they are.
We also believe in transparency. When we review tools, we're upfront about any commercial relationships. When we cite statistics, we link to the original source. When we don't know something, we say so.
